Parade of Homes

This past weekend I packed a bag and drove to St. George. It was going to be a big weekend. Not only was it Shirece's Birthday she was the Interior Designer for a home in the big Parade of Homes in St. George. For those of you not from Utah, Parade of Homes is a BIG home show where builders will showcase their homes. They typically higher a designer to decorate it and make it appealing to home buyers. She had the opportunity to decorate this Ence home. It's about a 3,000 sq ft. home. She did such a great job. We only heard people talking about how much they liked it as they walked through. According to Shirece this was like graduation or her wedding so many of us ventured in to see it. I got to hang out with my Aunt Luann and her friend as well as my parents. It was such a great weekend.

This is the home. I will actually do two posts and post her pictures of the home in the second post!!! Great job Shirece. Mom and dad came the next day to walk through the house. We had a little weather, including snow. My dad was so funny. For those of you who know him you will laugh at the next little bit. Of course he gets there and tells us that we're only going through Shirece's house but then we convinced him to go to the 10,000 sq. ft. home. This home was more like a resort then a home and of course he was having a panic attack. Once we got him through the house (it took some prodding) we went to some more "modest" sized homes. We explained throughout the show why the houses cost what they did such as "look, this one has lots of 'upgrades' it has granite countertops and backsplash tile, the bathroom has all of this tile in the shower, etc...." By the end he was walking through and pointing it out to us, "look, this is just a cheap standard shower, it doesn't have the nice upgraded tile." He even walked into a master bath which was as a big as a bedroom and said, "this is my favorite one." I think we went to about 10 homes. He may never admit but he really enjoyed himself. I think he was extra proud when we ran into some people from Gunnison and he got to tell them that Shirece had her own home in the Parade.
